Too much information + an analytic mind + a pressing internal desire to know God’s truth and get it right by his Spirit = (not sure yet, not at the end yet, is there an end yet?) Add Nate Ruess’s latest tune, and that’s been the soundtrack for today.
I met with Dr. M. this morning to process some things I’ve been learning in class and life. Namely, where do I fit in God’s designs for his children? I know my passions and giftedness; how do I honor him and not malign the Word when it comes to teaching the truth of the Bible?
This discussion is one that I’ve been turning over and over in my mind. I so desperately wish to serve God, and I want to “get it right” when it comes to what his Word means in light of A) who is given the green signal to teach in the church, and B) what relationships between men and women look like in light of Christ and the Church.
It’s really not that easy when the place you end up in will determine your future course in ministry.
Christ said, “Come to Me” (Matt 11:28-30). Well, dearest Savior, I am heavy laden with thoughts and opportunities and possibilities and hermeneutic strategy. I need you to take this and guide me. Badly.
And yet, there is a peace that sets aside the tensions that I know only comes from my God.
He is greater, higher than anything. I have been reminded of that through conversations with Dearest Claire and Lady Katherine this evening. Their simple confidence in how the Lord has pieced together their lives and how far he’s brought them has injected me with reminders of his faithfulness. I need to keep trusting, and I know that by submitting to the Spirit and remaining obedient to his hand, I will arrive at exactly where I am supposed to be.
Praise the One who is the Overseer of our Souls, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith, who returns us to where we need to be: with him (1 Peter 2:25).
See him as he is working. Even though it may be veiled, behind-the-scenes, we must keep trusting that he is gluing things into place, tugging on events and the hearts of mankind, to lead us by his name. Jesus is my Lord. I submit to him, in all things, because I trust where he is taking me in all these noodles of thoughts floating behind my eyes.
Gah.
